THE LAND OVER THERE
A HEROS JOURNEY
After the 6th extinction has ravaged the island of Madagascar, Lemon the lemur is the last of his kind. He spends his days alone, searching for food, treasure, and signs of life on the island. Until one day, he discovers something that changes everything. He embarks on an adventure that tells a tale of bravery, loss, versatility, and hope.

This film is made as part of a practise-based research enquiry towards a Master of Fine Art at the Nelson Mandela University in South Africa.
It is made in collaboration with Africa Earth Observatory Network and the Africa Alive Corridor project (AAC).
AAC aims to tell the geologic, biologic, and cultural ‘transdisciplinary autobiography’ of Africa. The AAC is part of a global initiative to stem the 6th extinction and deal with global climate change. More than 200 scientists, research students and artist are working collectively on a 21-book series and videos and writing unique time-line stories, including the heritages linked to ‘Out of Africa’ and ‘Into Africa’ colonisations.

This stop motion film forms part of this initiative as it explores how fine art, fiction, and multimodal storytelling can be used as a platform to highlight environmental issues.
